Reviewing WILSON’s Lemonade: PINK & OLD FASHIONED + announcing a giveaway

September 6, 2019

CURRENTLY LISTENING TO LOCATION BY DAVE ft BURNABOY

Hey faves! Can someone tell the guys at Wilson’s lemonade to send me a location to come pack all their drinks and I definitely would be right there!

You guys remember when I thought Lagos was my home for real until I had to come back and do my clearance (read all about my Lagos adventures WNG Lagos Experience : Episode 1 ) well, that was the first time I came across a bottle of WILSON’s LEMONADE and I was more excited about gulping down a chilled bottle of a carbonated drink. The only lemonade I’ve ever seen is in movies when kids sell them during garage sales day or bake sales (I sha wanted to do fancy things like that but I grew up in Aba, we’d cry together later don’t worry). Something in me knew I wanted a bottle of that drink and just when I saw it at MarketSquare here in Owerri, I reached out for two bottles.

Faves! Rate my first flatlay somewhere in the comment section cos this is about to become a thing!!!!

I did a quick research and you guys this is like 100% a Nigerian product and the story on how they started is all the inspiration you need believe me. Here’s a quick summary, WILSON’s is owned by two brothers SEUN and SEYI and they started by hand squeezing lemons. Their first sale was to a neighborhood kid who returned with 3 of his friends to ask for more lemonades. The brothers decided to expand their sales by bottling their drinks, at first sale was slow but then today they’re like the first freshly made lemonade company in Nigeria. Did I hear y’all say GROWTH???

PACKAGING; There are so many things to gush about over this drink but my favorite thing is the “deets” in the packaging. The back of the PINK & OLD FASHIONED lemonade have a story.

PRICE: I got the small bottles (150ml) for 65naira, yes! you didn’t read wrong, that 5 naira you think is not important, you can add 60 naira to it and that’s one small bottle of  WILSON’s. I just might not be accurate but the 500ml is sold between 200-250naira.

FLAVORS: PINK lemonade, OLD FASHIONED lemonade and ICE TEA lemonade (haven’t had this particular one so I’d be doing a review on the two I’ve had)

INGREDIENTS: The OLD-FASHIONED lemonade contains purified water, fresh squeezed lemon juice, sugar cane (yes!!!) and benzoate (a healthy preservative) while the PINK lemonade is different because it has hibiscus tea in it (zobo). Pretty sure this lets you know how the both taste, one is like plain lemon with sweetened water while the other has the zobo taste.

Personally, this was my reaction after the first gulp of the two drinks. For the OLD FASHIONED lemonade, it’s a subtle taste of lemon with the after lemon slight bitter effect but here’s the funny thing, it gives me a weird flex that has my right eye twitch for a few nanoseconds. Lol! It happened about three times but then it was funny (my body reacts funnily to things).

The PINK lemonade still tastes like lemon but then you have the zobo taste settle in your tongue after drinking. Plus I also think it was added for the color, I mean it’s really fancy to have a pink drink in your cup. Because I’m human and not weird, I mixed the two drinks and I think whatever combination it is, is my favorite one. They should make an PINK OLD FASHIONED FUSED lemonade lol!

I might be 9 years late to the review party because this drink got into the market as at 2010 but then “it really not be” my fault because it’s hard to find the drink in regular stores. If you have a mall close to you that sells it then I’d suggest that you get a whole carton before I get to your area.

If you can’t get hold of proper lemon, why don’t you get a whole pack of this? (this isn’t a paid ad or anything). I just feel since it’s natural and has no concentrates in it, then why can’t you add a dash of it to your tea or any other thing that needs lemon in it, lemon cake maybe?? (If you try it in your cake and it doesn’t work out, please don’t come at me).

Rather than gulp down tons of carbonated drinks which are not healthy for you, why don’t you get all the lemonade you can. I mean life didn’t give us lemons but this is the guys at WILSON’s giving us LEMONADES. I’m pretty sure your taste buds would be thankful to MAMA GRACE and the brothers behind the drink.

PS: They do this #LEMOGIVEAWAY on their instagram page. Because I love you guys, this is their handle @wilsonslemonade
