FEATURED FUTURE: YVONNE OGWULU
I remember seeing “Tech Girl Magic” on a laptop…
Social media management is beyond growing numbers, with Motun, you would have to get your target audience. Not only is she perfect with helping you get your target audience, she’s also an Instagram coach. Let’s drop the magic confetti and have the best show yet!
WNG: Let’s get to know you?
MOTUN: My name is Motun, I’m a social media manager and lifestyle content creator. I teach personal brands how to position themselves right for growth on Instagram and help small businesses boost their online presence and be more value-driven in their approach to making sales. Recently, I’ve been coaching people more, so you can add Instagram coach to my title.
I also run a 9-5 as ICT/Digital communications manager in a private school.
WNG: Doing a 9-5 and still finessing on Instagram. How has your creative journey been so far?
MOTUN: To be honest, it has had its rough and tumbles but I’m very passionate about helping people and seeing that everyone thrives and this is what has kept me going. So far, this journey has helped me become a better person, it has helped me to see things differently and understand people more. The best part is that being an introvert, this has helped me become more expressive and open-minded.
It’s been a beautiful journey and I’m grateful.
WNG: Run us through your creative process?
MOTUN: I used to be a “create on the go” kind of creator (I still am a little bit) but this personal process is what works for me, hopefully it gets to work for someone else too;
1. Ideas bank- I write down every idea that comes to mind, through conversations, an experience, a course, into a note folder I call “brain dump” (either on my phone’s note app or my mini-creative journal)
2. Schedule- I fit my ideas into my brand pillars, tweak the title to make it more attractive and schedule these them into days of the week
3. Research- from research, new concept and ideas are formed. It takes me about 2 hours to research on each of these topics for the week and save on ms.word
4. Flesh out- For me, ideas flow more when I write in a book. I look through my research and make it more relatable, sieve out unnecessary info and pick the points that matter the most. Make it short to fit into a carousel or single post.
5. Design- Most times, my designs are minimal, the most important thing is to create a design that passes across your message and not distract.
This process comes with me listening to songs from my favorite movies and lots of junk to accompany it.
WNG: What is one thing that irks you off about a page plus can you share an auditing tip with us?
MOTUN: A disorganized feed. It’s okay if you don’t use a theme color of follow a particular grid but please keep your feed clean and organized. Be focused on a unique content that we can attach to your brand.
For page auditing tip; ensure your profile is optimized, crosscheck to see that your business goal aligns with your Instagram marketing goals. I shared more page audit tip on my page with lots of questions to help. You can check via this link https://www.instagram.com/p/CDzbTSynYwl/?igshid=1b2xbmpwcz2f2
WNG: I’m definitely checking this link. What inspires your creativity?
MOTUN: God. He’s the one who gives me the strength to fulfill my desire to help people and keep pushing, He’s the source of every idea and my go-to person when I know not what to do. Every other reason leans toward Him.
WNG: As a social media manager, it’s definitely not all roses, what’s your worse social media management experience?
MOTUN: Gosh. I’ve had to deal with clients who payed less and over-stressed me with their entitlement mentality. Then there’s the “is it not just to post” and “let me try you for 1 month and see result” people I’ve also dealt with. The thing is that most people underestimate social media managers but you have to be that authority, own it and understand your self-worth so that you can attract the right people with the right-mindset that will value your work.
WNG: How do your one-on-one consultation work?
MOTUN: You’ve gone to many pages, commented “this is insightful”, you’ve taken several courses, all the freebies award goes to you but you still haven’t found clarity, you still don’t know how and what to do (e be things).
I’d help you reach your final destination with just one consultation. All you have to do is click on the link in my bio @thesocialmo, tap on the consultation button, it’s a paid service of which after payment you get a link to schedule a meeting with me. You know the best part, I won’t just leave you, you get 3 days of me being your accountability partner to see that you take actions towards the right step (how cool is that?!)
“I must give you all the praise. The last session with you really changed my content creation process. I’m now getting a better direction of my brand”- Eyram (this is just one of many feedback)
WNG: We deserve a creative tip from you. Share one please?
MOTUN: No one ever started out perfectly, the only reason you’re holding back is because you’re focused on someone else’s journey, thinking they’re perfect and trying too hard to be as good as them. Fam, you’re as good as you, just start, own the little you know and have, your mistake is part of your journey, that’s how you tell your story about growth. See ehn, it we push you to start, you will just fall so better pick yourself up and start walking.
WNG: How do you overcome creative struggles?
MOTUN: I take time out to refresh, reflect and remind myself why I started in the first place. I also put in mind that one person who needs me and is waiting for me to show up. I’m more of a nature person, so sometimes just sitting in a park does the trick.
WNG: I should find a park here or something. Trick question, what’s never used until it’s broken?
MOTUN: Ahnahn Lynda, it’s Egg na 🤣 easy-peasy, please pass me my award
WNG: I forgot who I was dealing with. Any project we should look forward to?
MOTUN: Yes yes yes and I’m excited for this one. Currently working on a training course specifically for Small business owners. I’d talk about this more when everything is in place.
WNG: We are here for this! Thank you for your time Motun.
